Don’t fear change: Lewis Electrical’s Xero Success Story

Lewis Electrical has been established for over 20 years and offers electrical specification, installation, testing and maintenance services. They work with companies of all sizes to ensure that their electrical systems are fit for purpose, reliable and cost effective.

Sandra Skipworth explains how Angela helped Lewis Electrical Ltd overcome their fear of swapping their familiar accounting software for Xero:

“Having used another well-known accounts system for a number of years, understandably we were apprehensive about moving over to Xero. Our view was ‘better the devil you know’.

“Angela was able to persuade us to overcome our fear of changing to a new type of accounting software by highlighting the many advantages of Xero, the main one being an online link with our bank account. There was so much we hadn’t realised it could achieve for our business.

“So, switching to Xero was definitely a positive move but the added bonus for us was that Angela made the transition from our previous software as painless and hassle-free as possible. She ensured that all customer, supplier and nominal details were exported to Xero, with no loss of the vital information that has been carefully complied throughout the history of our business

“Angela also dealt directly with Lewis Electrical’s accountants to make sure that the all correct opening balances were entered onto Xero, checking that everyone was happy with the starting position (transferring 6 months into the financial year without any problems, to boot!). Slick, new-look invoice & statement layouts were set up, including the company’s artwork, ready for emailing to customers.

“With all the worries of the transition taken care of, we were just left to concentrate on getting to grips with the daily tasks in Xero. With Angela’s patience and support, this didn’t take long at all. She’s got such a brilliant sense of humour, she even made it seem fun. I must say, I’m now a very happy user of Xero software. Why didn’t we do this sooner? My message to other businesses is: don’t wait, this change will reignite your business.”
